TfL: Changes to Santander Cycles this weekend and on 12 September 2022

6 September 2022 0

On 12 September 2022, e-bikes will be joining Santander Cycles and prices will be changing.  Due to a planned system upgrade ahead of these changes, Santander Cycles will be temporarily closed to all users from 20:00 on Friday 9 September until 06:00 on Monday 12 September. During this period, cycles that have already been hired may be returned, but no new hires will be possible.  If you use the app to hire, please update it to the latest version available in your app store on 12 September.  You will continue to be a member when prices change and be able to hire e-bikes using the app or a membership key, if you have one. As a reminder, these changes to prices include:

  • Replacing the existing daily access charge with a single ride charge of £1.65 for 30 minutes
  • A new monthly subscription option, costing £20 per month, will be available. The subscription will allow customers unlimited 60-minute rides throughout a 30-day period
  • The price of annual membership will increase to £120 and will include unlimited 60-minute rides during a 365-day period. This change reflects increased running costs and inflation since the price of annual membership was last changed in 2013 and will help secure continued investment in cycle hire in London

E-bikes will be available to customers who hire through the app or by using membership keys. E-bikes will cost £3.30 for 30-minute single rides or £1 for the first 60 minutes of a journey for monthly and annual members. Extra charges will apply for longer journeys.  If you currently pay via autopay, this will automatically continue at the new price of £1.65 for 30 minutes. Please log in to your Santander Cycles account to check and make changes to the autopay settings if you wish to.
