London’s Sky Pool is the hottest place to cool off in the capital. Here’s what you need to know before you go.

We’re sure you’ve seen a picture of London’s Sky Pool (if not, where on earth have you been?). It took the world – and, more importantly, Instagram – by storm when it opened last year. It’s said to be the first floating pool in the world, and visiting is not for the faint hearted. If you get vertigo, look away now. Just staring at it makes us feel a little wobbly. Dying to take a dip? Here’s what you need to know.

Dear Residents,
We are pleased to announce the Embassy Gardens Sunset Sessions event taking place on Friday 15th July.
Residents are invited to celebrate summer in style at this sunset soirée featuring:

Live music from The Brixton Chamber Orchestra and DJ sets from top artists, including Tom Findlay of Groove Armada and EG resident DJ Bazza Ranks
Synchronised swimming performances in the Sky Pool by Aquabatix, the World’s most innovative water entertainment
Pop up bars and food offerings from Embassy Gardens’ on-site businesses

There will be activity happening simultaneously on the Level 10 Sky Deck and at ground level outside on the estate.
Please note, both locations are following strict event capacity license and health & safety regulations.

Ground Level Viewing
Complimentary tickets for the ground level viewing are available for all residents including guests (up to 400 people), however, advance registration is required. There will be food and drink offerings available from our local businesses to mark the occasion. Entertainment will commence from 5pm until 8.30pm

Sky Deck
Limited tickets for up to 110 residents only, are available on a first come, first served basis to book via Eg Life (max. 1 per person), to be able watch live performances from the Sky Deck. Tickets are £30, inclusive of a welcome drink. Followed by a food offering from the grill and a cash bar, operated by Unlocked. Entertainment will commence from 7pm until 10pm

In order to facilitate the setup of the event, the Sky Pool and level 10 area will be fully closed for use on 15th July and will then open for the event itself. Please also note there will be some minimal noise disruption throughout the day for sound checks. All other amenities will be open as usual and the Sky Pool will return to normal operation on Saturday 16th July.

Embassy Gardens Management Team

Cleaning and maintenance contractor NJC has taken delivery of a new 42 metre Easy Lift spider lift for cleaning work at the new Embassy Gardens residential development in Nine Elms, London. The development includes the unique 25 metre glass Sky Pool which presents serious access challenges to reach the external surfaces, given its clear height of 35 metres. It requires a machine that not only offers the reach, but is also compact and relatively lightweight to fit into the limited area below.

A swimming pool suspended 35m (115ft) above the ground and forming a bridge between two buildings has opened as part of a residential project in Nine Elms, south-west London, UK.

Designed by HAL Architects, the 25m Sky Pool spans two buildings at the Embassy Gardens development, located opposite the new US Embassy.

The pool has transparent walls and floor, which allows passersby to observe the swimmers – and those in the pool to see the ground.

The pool is constructed in clear acrylic. The sidewalls of the pool are 180mm thick and 3.2metres deep. Its base is 360mm thick and the whole pool weighs 50 tonnes and contains a total of 150tonnes of water, 100tonnes of which is carried by the acrylic ‘bridge’.

The aquarium-style swimming pool installed floating ten storeys above ground in Vauxhall is just one indication that the huge area of industrial land beside the Thames is on the up. We have yet to hear Joe Biden’s assessment of Nine Elms — we expect it with bated breath some time after today’s inauguration — but we know full well that his predecessor Donald Trump was not a fan.
